Groovy Chick had this link on her site. D calls me a freak (I don't see him complaining though), but I'm trying to think of a better way to die and I'm coming up empty.

Haven't done a Friday 5 in awhile, going back to an older one.

1. Do you remember your first best friend? Who was it?
I do. Her name was Dawn Marie. She was my babysitter's daughter.

2. Are you still in touch with this person?
No, I don't. I saw her mom 6 years ago at my mother's funeral. I was surprised she came, we haven't spoken in years.

3. Do you have a current close friend?
I am lucky enough to have several. I don't have a lot of people I would call friends, but I would trust the ones I have with my kid's lives.

4. How did you become friends with this person?
I pretty much have known all of them since childhood, except for D. I've only known him for about 5 years. We met through a friend at a homeless shelter of all places. Yes, there is a story there, but, no, I won't be telling it here.

5. Is there a friend from your past that you wish you were still in contact with? Why?
I've kept in touch with most of my good friends, except for Joe. He got involved with and later married a woman and stopped talking to me and pretty much everyone else in his life. Even his family. He was just a true, pure-hearted person and I really miss our friendship. I've made several attempts to talk to him, he responds excitedly, but never follows through. I am close friends with his cousin so I know he's doing well, so I'm happy for him.

D is still here, life is stellar, postings few.

I have spent a lot of time in my car the past week or two, which means I'm listening to the radio more than I normally do. Does anyone else miss the days of really good music and not all this bump and grind stuff that's on now?

What's on your bedroom floor right now?
Oh my! I'm planning a move so I'm going through all my stuff. I won't even take up hours going through the list.

What was I thinking to leave this man behind? It's so good to be near him again. I'm ignoring the day on the calender when he has to go away, but until then we are having lots and lots of fun. We are actually at the library right now and I just had to say, "Why can't mothers control their children in public?"

D was missing me too. The day after my last post, he called me and said he was coming the next day for a visit. So I've been busy doing things that are more fun than blogging. He's still here, but we need a rest. Going to catch up on some favorites now.

I knew I would miss D when I left, but who woulda thunk I'd be fiending for him?

I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed
--Edna St. Vincent Millay

I, being born a woman and distressed
By all the needs and notions of my kind,
Am urged by your propinquity to find
Your person fair, and feel a certain zest
To bear your weight upon my breast:
So subtly is the fume of life designed,
To clarify the pulse and cloud the mind,
And leave me once again undone, possessed.
Think not for this, however, the poor treason
Of my stout blood against my staggering brain,
I shall remember you with love, or season
My scorn with pity, --let me make it plain:
I find this frenzy insufficient reason
For conversation when we meet again.
