Doncha just hate new parents? There are new parents across the hall from me who expects total silence so that their 2 week old baby isn't awakened. Get real people. Having your baby get used to sleeping in total silence is a nightmare waiting to happen, and I'm just not making my two-year-old tiptoe in and out of our apartment. I don't let him scream at the top of his lungs, but let's be reasonable. You can't shut out all noises when you live in an apartment, it's the price you pay. I hear them all the time telling people to be quiet because their baby is sleeping, not to mention the tacky sign taped to the door.
At nearly 8 months pregnant, I'm not very understanding. At all.

Haven't had much time to blog. Getting settled into my new place and working.

My husband is a die-hard Republican (and always thinks he can change my mind, 4 years and he's still had no success), but even he's starting not to care for Bush too much.

My daughter ripped my contacts in half because "she wanted to just try them on". How do you make a little girl understand the concept of $150 being a lot of money when her parents are broke?

Cooking sucks. Thank goodness my husband enjoys it.

I recently got Nikki Giovanni's complete book of poems from the library and remembered why I like her so much. She is on my list of "Words I Wish I Wrote". If only I could write a poem as bad as Ego-Trippin.

I found a copy of The Autobiography of Malcolm X at the thrift store last week. I recently lost my copy and this is one the books I like to re-read every couple of years. I am happy.

I brought a new pair of sandals just in time for the 70 degree weather we're expecting this week-end. Warm weather, life doesn't get any better than that.

Boxes tend to be heavier than normal when your 7 months pregnant, but I'm not complaning.
We are in the process of moving into our own apartment. It's a flat and a lot smaller than I'm used to, but again I'm not complaining.
I feel like I'm moving out of homelessness into my own place. For the last couple of years I have been moving with-or in with-people instead of moving on my own. The companionship and shared financial responsiblity is nice, but I have just been craving time where I can enjoy a pint of ice cream and Imitation of Life in my undies without watching for when my roommate will be coming home.
There are definitely advantages to being single and definite advantages to being married. Having that second income be from someone you can sit around in your undies next to is lovely.
My son turns 2 on Friday and to help her not feel left out, I'm letting my 7 year old plan his party menu. It's tradition in my family that the Birthday Person either choses their favorite meal or restaurant, since my son is a bit young to understand the concept, it's up to Lady Day. It could be interesting. Last year for her birthday she wanted blue chicken. It's not some fancy or exotic dish, it's chicken dyed blue. Chicken ain't 'posed to be blue, so it was a bit hard to eat, but we did it. She's getting better, this past birthday she wanted tacos, Ramen Noodles and this pizza snack I make her with English muffins. Interesting combination, but at least there were no requests for wierd colors. There were no complaints.
